7 Tips For Great Soccer Goalkeeping : Coaching.

The soccer goalkeeping position is one of the most physically and mentally demanding positions on the soccer team. The player in that position is the last line of defense, and the first line of attack. When you begin to learn to coach youth soccer, and to get to learn more about the different positions, don’t forget to spend time developing players for this position. Here are 7 tips for being successful as a soccer goalkeeper.

1. Focus on the Ball

One of the toughest jobs for a keeper is to ignore everything that is happening on the field in front of them, and keep their eye on the ball. You need to be able to see the ball through a tangle of legs in front of the goal in order to know when it gets within your reach. This is true whether the ball is coming at you or all the way on the other end of the field. When the keeper loses sight of the ball, they get scored on.

2. Don’t Get Caught in the Box

A mistake many young soccer goalkeepers make is to feel afraid to leave the 18-yard box to go after the ball. You need to remember that your job is to stop the ball before it reaches your goal. Sometimes that means going out after the ball. A word of caution: don’t get too over confident when you get a few successes leaving the box. While it is something you have to so when the situation calls for it, if you do it too often you will get burned.

3. Know When to Jump

One of the more dramatic plays in soccer is when the keeper leaps to the side to get to successfully stop a shot on goal. It is one of the tools a successful goalkeeper needs to develop. Along with that knowledge is the knowledge of when to use that tool. When you jump for balls that you cannot reach you are taking away your ability to recover for the next shot. If the ball does reflect off of another player, or off the post, you will be lying on the ground, unable to do your job.

4. Learn From Experience

The best way to learn how to play the goalkeeper position is to get into games and play. The more you play, the quicker you will learn. Will you make mistakes? Yes, and a lot of them. Don’t let that discourage you. Every player makes mistakes when they learn to play soccer. It’s just that the keepers mistakes are more noticeable, and there is nobody playing behind them to fix their mistakes.

5. Make the Attacker Commit

A good keeper knows when to go out after the ball, and when to stay back and wait for the play to come to them. A big mistake is to go out too soon instead of waiting for the attacker to commit to the play. When you go out after the ball too soon you give the attacker the opportunity to pass or dribble around you. If you wait (but not too long) the attacker will have to commit to either passing or taking the shot. Once they commit you are in a much better position to successfully stop the ball.

6. Know Where the Goal Is

Most keepers typically play about a yard away from the goal line when the attack is coming at them. However, when your team has the ball the keeper will play further away from the net. Make sure you know exactly where the goal is regardless of where you are on the field.

7. Don’t Be Timid

The soccer goalkeeping position is the most physically and mentally demanding positions on the field. It requires concentration and a willingness to dive through kicking feet in order to grab the ball. It is not a position for the faint of heart. You need to have a certain amount of aggressiveness, and to be willing to take on players, regardless of their size. When you play in fear, you will hesitate to make the moves that are necessary for your success, and you will get scored on.

The soccer goalkeeper is one of the most important, and least appreciated players on the field As you learn to coach youth soccer, and learn more about the different soccer positions, make sure you spend time developing a solid goalkeeper. Your team’s success depends on it.

10 Soccer Goalkeeper Tips – Sweatshirt.

The soccer goalkeeper is one of the most important and yet least appreciated roles on the soccer field. The role is to protect your goal and not make mistakes as these are not forgotten unlike the other positions on the soccer pitch. The goalkeeper must always be focused through the entire game, and should have confidence and leadership at all times.

10 Soccer goalkeeper Tips

1. You cannot be afraid of getting injured. You are more likely to get an injury if you do not commit yourself completely.

2. Always have confidence in yourself and do not let a mistake discourage you for the rest of the game.

Analyse your performance and learn from your mistakes, this is difficult but if you want to improve then practise and train on your weaknesses.

3. You may not stop every shot, but you should always make an attempt to. This installs confidence in you and your team. Communicate with your team mates at all times, do not complain to your players, encourage them in difficult situations.

4. Slow down play to change the momentum of a game, this can work if you have been under a lot of pressure and your team mates need to get their breath back, it also gives them time to get back into their correct positions.

5. If you have to go to the ground to make a save, make sure you quickly get back to your feet, the ball may be coming back to you sooner then you think.

6. When the opposition have a corner, make sure you have two of your team mates covering each side of the goal. Stay in your 18 yard box and only jump for a ball if you can catch it or punch it away. The rest of the penalty box should be left to your team mates.

7. With a dive you should always land on your side and grip the ball fast into your stomach. If a shot is aiming towards one of the corners of the goal, you must stretch and extend yourself as much as you can. This is why its important to keep your body relaxed and flexible.

8. The catch shot are the shots that are aimed right at you. You should trap the ball against your chest with your elbows close to your body, this will help you from dropping the ball.

9. With a dive you should always land on your side and grip the ball fast into your stomach. If a shot is aiming towards one of the corners of the goal, you must stretch and extend yourself as much as you can. This is why its important to keep your body relaxed and flexible.

10. The catch shot are the shots that are aimed right at you. You should trap the ball against your chest with your elbows close to your body, this will help you from dropping the ball.

A goalkeeper needs to be strong, flexible and mentally prepared.

Remember, the goalkeeper is the last line of defense and the first line of attack.

David Beckham – To Leave or Not to Leave LA – Coaching :- Cleats :- Soccer.

David Beckham Leaves LA

No one mastered the art of crossing and curving the ball as beautifully as Beckham. David Beckham has scored some of the most beautiful free kicks even seen by the world. And he is known to be a deadly assassin in free-kick situations.

For the last 5 years, David Beckham has been playing his heart out for Los Angeles Galaxy and his contract at LA will be expiring soon. When news first break out that David Beckham has signed up for LA Galaxy, there will tremendous build-up of hype that was buzzing in both the media and the public.

Let us take a closer look at some of the "Beckham effect" on Major League soccer (MLS).

• Galaxy's road games have contributed to the some of the highest average attendance in stadiums, ever recorded in MLS history

• Galaxy's sales kit have increased tremendously, all their merchandise and replica shirts linked to him have been flying off the shelves

• The popularity of soccer has grown in America, with growing numbers of casual fans coming to watch the in stadiums and on TV

This is my two cents' worth of the extent of David Beckham's influence and whether it is good for Soccer in America, LA Galaxy and Beckham himself.

For Soccer in America:

The number of people who liked official fan page of David Beckham is over 14 million on Facebook and the number is still increasing daily. This goes to show that as a public figure, David Beckham enjoys a huge following. Ever since the arrival of Beckham, the MLS has benefited greatly from his presence alone. His popularity on and off the field has brought thousands of fans to come and watch the games of MLS.

Critics have been slamming on the idea of bringing international football stars to MLS as when they make the transition from the European league to the MLS, they are already "over the hill" and very close to retiring. However, Beckham's case has bucked the trend and proven many critics wrong.

When Beckham moved to MLS, he is still in his prime and he has been maintaining his match fitness to keep up with the competitive pace of the game. With Beckham in the team, LA Galaxy is gunning to be the MLS champion for the year 2011. This is great for the MLS as Beckham in the finals will draw more television audience and tickets to the game will be sold out. Diehard and casual fans will be curious to see if Beckham will be able to lift the trophy with LA Galaxy for his "last year" in MLS, should he decide to leave.

For LA Galaxy:

LA Galaxy has undoubtedly benefited from the inclusion of David Beckham into their team. They have certainly benefited from the great sales volume of the replica shirts bearing the name of David Beckham. About 61,000 fans filled up the stadium of LA to watch David Beckham in action. Sales of season ticket has been increasing as well. There is no doubt that LA Galaxy will be affected should David Beckham decide to move on from MLS.

LA Galaxy has not won the MLS cup since Beckham arrived and played for them. Come this 20 Nov, Beckham and LA Galaxy will fight for the right to be crowned champions of the MLS.

For Beckham Himself:

David Beckham has pocketed over 250 million dollars from his 5-year contract at LA Galaxy. That is quite attractive for a player of David Beckham's stature. His wife, Victoria Beckham, is not complaining about his move to America and she has been lapping on the glamor of Hollywood fame. In America, both David and Victoria are viewed as the "golden couple" in Hollywood. Their children will also stand to benefit from world-class education in some of the top private schools in America. Overall, there are more pros than cons for the Beckham family.

Furthermore, when Beckham was still at Real Madrid, he was not playing as regularly as he should to be included into the England national squad. Over at LA Galaxy, Beckham is often selected to be the first eleven and he is crucial part of the team setup. Without Beckham, LA Galaxy appeared to be a different team without the extra edge and dimension provided by Beckham to their game.

However, should David Beckham decide to move on, he has some options to play in better football teams like PSG in France and Tottenham Hotspurs in England. Moving back to the European league will further bolster his chances of playing for England in their Euro 2012 campaign.

So, should David Beckham leave or not? That will be up to you to decide. It is great for the MLS. And it is even good for Beckham to a certain extent. Beckham may have aged, but he still has much to offer to LA Galaxy both on and off the field. Personally, I will prefer Beckham to stay at LA Galaxy and retire as a superstar player with a great playing record.

Terence Becker is a fan of David Beckham and Los Angeles Galaxy, follow his blog posts for more expose of David Beckham at Beckham Galaxy.

Ethics Scandal Rocks the FIFA World Cup: 6 Members Banned :- Goalkeeper : Cleats.

Scandal Rocks the FIFA

Six Committee Members Banned from Sport

Hot on the heels of the much disputed decision to pick Poland and Ukraine as the Euro 2012 co-hosts, fifa has become embroiled in the hottest ethical scandal to rock the organization in history. Recently, the Sunday Times reported that two high-ranking fifa officials were reported to have been seeking payments for their bids on the 2018 and 2022 World Cup games. Following the questionable choices of Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022) as upcoming hosts, beating out Australia and the United States, respectively, the investigation by the ethics committee of fifa has revealed that this controversy went much deeper than previously expected.

The FIFA Ethics Committee, under the direction of chairs from such countries as Switzerland, France, and Uruguay, decided that the actions of not just two, but six, of FIFA's highest soccer officials demanded banishment from the sport and any related activity for up to four years. Also, these officials must pay fines in excess of CHF 50,000, collectively.

The two main culprits, Reynald Temarii, who is FIFA's vice president, and Amos Adamu, a FIFA Executive Committee member, were banned for periods of one and three years, respectively, and assessed fines of CHF 5,000 and CHF 10,000, respectively. Other members, including the Chairman of the FIFA DRC (Dispute Resolution), the General Secretary of the Tonga football association, and a member of the referees committee, were also banned for periods of three years with fines to each of CHF 10,000. These six members were found to be guilty of breaching certain ethical standards pertaining to FIFA's Code of Ethics. These decisions followed a three-day hearing in order to assess the damage done.

Prior to these findings and decisions, the Ethics Board had already suspended Temarii and Adamu in order to conduct the investigation. The Ethics Committee then completed an in-depth investigation to determine the extent of actual harm and misconduct. They certainly found more than they bargained for. During the course of the investigation, the six officials were officially suspended until the completion of the investigation.

In the course of investigations, the Ethics Committee could not find enough evidence to support alleged violations of bid relations when it comes to the process and the choosing of the hosts; however, these officials were banned from the sport because there were ethical infringements, as many as six infringements per official.

We will keep you up to date on any further proceedings that may develop out of this controversy. For now, it seems that the coals may finally be cooling.

England World Cup Bid 2018 – The Stadiums – Shin pads : Soccer.

England World Cup Bid 2018

England is currently bidding to host the 2018 Football World Cup Finals. With Europe thought to be favoured for the 2018 World Cup, David Beckham has recently handed over England's 2018 bid book to FIFA President Sepp Blatter at a conference in Zurich.

One of the most important factors in the World Cup bid is the selection of the Stadiums where the World Cup games are to be played.

FIFA have very strict rules and regulations for the stadiums selected in World Cup bids. There need to be at least ten stadiums all with a crowd capacity of 40,000 or above, two Stadiums must have a capacity of at least 60,000, and these would be used for the opening match, the semi-finals and the final of the World Cup. Another regulation is that only two of the stadiums can be in the same city.

As well as the stadiums, the host cities must also demonstrate that they can provide excellent training facilities, team base camps, facilities for the many fans and media, accommodation and transport services, and also have robust plans for safety, security and sustainability.

Here is a short review of the Stadiums being considered for England's 2018 World Cup bid.

Birmingham – Villa Park, Home stadium for Aston Villa Football Club, the all seated stadium has a capacity of 42,788. It is a UEFA Elite Stadium and has previously hosted 16 England international matches, it is the most used English stadium for FA Cup semi-finals, having hosted 55 semi-finals. Plans are in place to re-develop the North Stand, increasing the capacity of Villa Park to approximately 50,000. Villa Park is within a short distance of two mainline railway stations.

Bristol – New Ashton Gate, Home stadium for Bristol City, which currently has an all seated capacity of 21,497, plans are in place for major re-development which would increase the capacity to 42,000 should England be successful In their bid for the 2018 World Cup. The stadium has previously hosted matches in the Rugby World Cup and several large music concerts.

Leeds – Elland Road, Home of Leeds United, Elland Road is a 5 star rated UEFA Stadium and is the 12th largest stadium in England, and the largest ground outside the Premier League. The ground has hosted many FA Cup Semi-Final matches, as well as a number of England international fixtures, it was also used as one of the eight stadiums when England hosted Euro 96. The redevelopment of the East Stand for which Leeds already have planning permission will play a major part in providing the facilities required by FIFA to stage matches in the World Cup

Liverpool – Anfield, The famous home of Liverpool FC Anfield has a total capacity of 45,276, Anfield is a UEFA elite Stadium and has hosted many international matches, including England matches. The ground was also used as a venue during Euro 96, and is due to host matches during the 2015 Rugby World Cup

There are plans to replace the existing Anfield with a new 60,000 capacity stadium, which would host the matches if the Stadium was to be completed in time for the World Cup.

London – There are three nominated stadiums from London, they include Wembley Stadium which opened in 2007 at a cost of £798 million, it is built on the site of the previous Wembley stadium. The new Wembley has a 90,000 capacity which makes it the second largest stadium in Europe and it is also home to England's national team.

Arsenal's Emirates Stadium This stadium opened in July 2006 and has an all seated capacity of 60,355 which is the second largest club stadium in England, after Old Trafford

The third nomination will be either the Olympic Stadium which is being built for the 2012 London Olympics which could be adapted to accommodate around 60,000 fans or Tottenham's yet-to-be-built new ground which will have a capacity of 55-60,000 seats

Milton Keynes – Stadium:mk is home to Milton Keynes Dons Football Club,

The initial configuration of the stadium uses only the lower tier which can accommodate 22,000 fans, but by using the upper tier there is provision to increase the capacity to 32,000. Should England be successful in their World Cup bid there is also an option to increase the maximum capacity to 45,000 with the introduction of a new tier and when the stadium is complete it will comply with UEFA's Elite Stadium specifications.

Nottingham – New Forest Stadium is a proposed football stadium which would be built in Nottingham to replace the City Ground of Nottingham Forest Football Club. The stadium is intended to have a capacity of between 45,000 and 50,000 spectators. A popular choice amongst Nottingham Forest fans would be to call the ground the 'Brian Clough Arena' in honour of the club's legendary manager. It is likely that the new stadium will only be built if England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup is successful.

Manchester – Old Trafford, home stadium for Manchester United Football Club, the capacity is 75,957. Old Trafford has the second-largest capacity of any English football stadium after Wembley, and with Wembley, it is one of two Stadiums in the country to have been given a UEFA five star rating. The ground has hosted several FA Cup semi-final matches, and several England international fixtures while the new Wembley Stadium was under construction. Old Trafford has also hosted matches at the at the 1966 World Cup Finals and Euro 96, as well as the Champions League Final in 2003.

Manchester – The City of Manchester Stadium also known 'Eastlands' is home to Manchester City Football Club, was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth games at a cost of £110 million, with a seating capacity of 47,726. An agreement is in place to allow re-development of the stadium to possible 60,000 capacity. The stadium hosted the UEFA Cup Final in 2008.

Newcastle – St James' Park, home stadium of Newcastle United Football Club, with a capacity of 52,387, It is the sixth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom, the stadium has been the home ground of Newcastle since 1892 and has recently been at the centre of a re-naming controversy.

Plymouth – Home Park home ground for Plymouth Argyle Football Club, since 1901, substantial re-development work has taken place over the last few years, and after further work the stadium became all-seated in the summer of 2007, further plans are in place to develop the stadium into a 46,000 capacity stadium, with a 5,000-seat indoor arena and a hotel, as the club aims to transform the stadium into a major sport and entertainment venue

Sheffield – Hillsborough, home of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club since 1899, the stadium has a 39,812 capacity and plans by the club for a £22 million renovation of the stadium have been approved, this would increase the capacity to 44,825. The stadium has been used for matches at the 1966 World Cup and Euro '96

Sunderland – Stadium of Light, home stadium for Sunderland, has a capacity of 49,000 the stadium was as designed for expansion by the possible addition of an upper tier, which would take the stadium up to a maximum capacity of 64,000, which would only be bettered by Old Trafford as a club ground.

Being a World Cup venue will generate pride, prestige and excitement. Each city will experience inward investment, and upgrading football stadiums would and create new jobs, football facilities will be improved, and this will be inspire the younger generation to play the sport.

There would be a huge income from thousands of fans and visitors, purchasing World Cup souvenirs and football gifts visiting local attractions, restaurants and bars.

The country's tourist industry would benefit from a huge uplift, and hundreds of businesses would benefit from the thousands of international visitors, many jobs would also created by the tournament.
